Doberman Barking – How to Shut Him Up With a 2 Dollar Item

For many, excessive Doberman barking can be a real pain. Just ask my brother’s girlfriend…But don’t worry okay?

In a brief moment, I’m going to reveal a 2 dollar training item that in addition to being effective at keeping your Doberman pinscher quiet, it can also be used as a conditioned reinforcer for promoting desirable habits in practically any dog breed.

Alright look, training a Doberman dog can be tricky. They have a pretty aggressive temperament especially toward strangers. Once again, just ask my brother’s girlfriend!

See my Doberman which I named Mondo, used to bark often. Usually I can get his barking behavior under control. But when my brother’s girl came over, my Doberman’s barking habit got really crazy!

I think Mondo didn’t like the scent of her perfume. You see, at the time, she was wearing a Paris Hilton perfume so you know how it is…

Any merchandise with Paris Hilton’s name is bound to irritate the vast majority of life forms on this planet. There is nowhere you could go to get away from her is there?

Her face can be seen practically everywhere and now her perfume scent?

That sure got Mondo riled up!

Okay! Okay! Sorry, I digress…Now; you want to know the $2 item I use to stop excessive Doberman barking?

I used a clicker, plain and simple…

And I also followed training steps presented by this really detailed clicker dog behavior training manual. They have clicker training directions for addressing 30 different behaviors.

Extremely helpful basic and advanced instructions in there so go to the link below if you’re interested in downloading it:

Okay look, here’s how we remedy this behavior with a 2 dollar clicker…

(1) Place a head halter on your dog and when your dog barks, pull his head slightly upward via the head halter leash.

(2) Now take a real good look in his eyes and tell him “no”. Then instruct your dog to “sit”. By pulling him slightly upward, you’ll likely put him in a sitting position. It’s a bit negative but…

(3) As soon as he sits down (should stop barking by now), click the clicker and deliver a treat reward to him (positive). Don’t forget to praise him too! The important thing here is too click accurately.

Click first and then deliver the reward – not the other way round!

You know, excessive Doberman barking behavior easily be remedied using the above process repeatedly.

And if you need more detailed training instructions for shaping absolutely positive habits in your Doberman, then follow the link below.
